WhatsApp announced the start of verified enterprise accounts testing. As with Facebook and Instagram, the messaging application will now display a symbol next to the name of checked establishments. To ensure this is the true profile, the app will use yellow text in conversations between client and company. In addition, the message history can not be deleted at all.
According to WhatsApp, for now, only “some accounts have been verified.” It is not yet possible to download and install the beta version with the new function, neither with APK nor via download in the application stores. WhatsApp Web, which works online on PC, also does not offer the news so far.
How to Identify a Business Profile
In an official blog post, WhatsApp explains that a conversation started with a business profile will automatically add the phone number of the establishment to your contacts. In the personal calendar, the number will appear with the name chosen by the company. If the contact is already recorded on the smartphone, the user ID will remain at the time of registration.
The messenger still makes it clear that users can choose not to receive commercial messages. For this, it will be enough to block the unwanted business profile, just as it is already done with conventional contacts.
New message types
The WABetaInfo site, which is known for pouring WhatsApp news ahead of time, gives more details about the business function. According to the portal, the application will also offer new types of messages for companies to communicate with customers. One is “Structured Messages”, a new type of post with text, image, built-in button, and an automated translation system for multiple languages.
Also according to the WABetaInfo portal, companies would also have the option of using the “Official Announcements”, verified posts to promote promotions and other important notices about the business. This type of publication would always carry the linked identity verification signal, even after being shared several times, to prevent the distribution of false information on the web.
Other possible news for companies mentioned by the portal include automated messages, briefing hours and a detailed profile within the application with name, address, official website and contact email.
About two weeks ago, WABetaInfo had obtained prints assigned to a new in-app payment function. WhatsApp Payments, if confirmed, may allow users to pay for products and services within the chat, as long as the conversation is with a verified business profile.
The trend is for the WhatsApp application to receive all functions for customers. Already the resources aimed at companies, as guaranteed by WABetaInfo, would be present in another app. The new program would be called Small and Medium Business and would have version for Android, iPhone (iOS) and Windows Phone (Windows 10 Mobile). The Google system for mobile phones would be the first contemplated with the novelty.
WhatsApp has not commented on the information provided by WABetaInfo. So far, the company only confirms the start of the tests with verified business profiles, and does not give term to launch the function for Brazilian users.
